Tribute to my best friend in the world JW

"The best kind of friend is the one you could sit on a porch swing with, never saying a word, and walk away feeling like that was the best conversation you've ever had.”

My Tribute

One could never have enough words to say about a very special and best friend that you would grow up with, do many things together, go to the same school, summer time activities, playing and working together, so, so many memories that take you back to over 60 years in one’s life. This is what you would call a true friend someone that you share your life with, someone you trusted, someone that was there in the good and the tough times. There are friends and then there is a friend. Friends that grow up together even though the years pass by they always stay in contact by phone call, or write or visit one another from time to time, that to me is a true friend.

A true friend laugh’s together, cry’s together, that love one another as a true friend, even when they are miles apart, distance and time does not separate one from a best and true friend. One can have a lot of friends but when it comes to a best friend or a true friend we could count on one hand how many true friends we really have in our lives. A true friend will leave part of his heart with you forever. A friend will never say "goodbye" always "see you later", for they know they will see one another again.

From the time one meets a friend in one’s life, there becomes a trust and bond of one’s heart though the paths of friends go in different directions from time to time their paths will always come back together even at the same place that they first meet. What is so exciting about a true friend is that even though they may not see one another for month’s even years but as they come together it is like time has stood still so there is no loss of the time the two were apart. Even as friends get older the memories are still as real at present as they took place 10 or 20 years or longer. Time is very precious and can be missed if one does not take the time to make some type of connect when it is on one’s heart to call, write, text etc. There is nothing any better than to hear the voice of a dear friend that you grew up with.

The hello’s the laughs, reminiscing of things you have done together put joy and love in one’s heart. The sharing of one another hearts bring one’s life of hope and fulfillment to over flowing as two friends get together. One never really knows how much of a true friend you really have until there is a separation of a life here on earth. I have heard this saying, “there are two things in life that keep someone from loving one another and that is TIME and TRUST. As I said earlier Time is precious and it seems to me that the more time you spend knowing someone the more you can trust that friend. How much time are we willing to spend with a friend to begin a trusting friendship that becomes a best or true friend? Time and trust goes together to make a bond of a great friend that becomes a loyal, trustworthy and lifelong best and true friend.

This is what JW and I had for over 60 years of our lives. We were like brothers that were the best of friends. JW was my best and true friend in the world, whom I loved and respected, honored and will cherish the friendship and the many memories of our lives together.

Thank you for being my best friend forever, Love you JW, your forever friend Will.

Ordination, Prayer and Word for Pastor Jim (JW) 2005

As I was seeking and praying to God about my best friend Jim, I felt the Spirit of God say to me these words, humble, obedience, faithfulness, character and integrity. This is what God sees in you Jim and what I also see in you.

  1. Humble: Mark by meekness and being humble before God as a servant.
  2. Obedience: Willing to obey, submissive to God..
  3. Faithfulness: Supportive, loyal, and trustworthy before God and the church family.
  4. Character: Moral integrity, reputation that has been before God and the congregation.
  5. Integrity: Personal honesty, completeness and unity with God and the church family.

These five things humble, obedience, faithfulness, character and integrity make up a leader and a person for leadership and God has honored that in you Jim as He has set aside this special day just for you.

I ask God, what would you want to say to Jim today and I believe Jim that God spoke these words for you as you are being honored here today as an ordained man of God.  The Lord your God would say to you, I love you and I care about you, that I have called you and ordained you this day, for my calling and gifts that are in you are without repentance and that I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. My Holy Spirit will be your guide, will be your teacher and will be your comforter.  From this day forward I have set you as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Know that I have my plan, my purpose and my destiny for you.  That you have been set in and established in my house to be by your Pastor side and to bless me the Lord your God and my people and this church.

I also felt that the Lord said, pray my word of blessings over Jim. In the (Amplified Bible) in the book of Numbers chapter 6 verses 24 thru 26 it says,

Numbers 6:24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you.

Numbers 6:25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you.

Numbers 6:26 The Lord lift up His (approving) countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually). Amen.

It is truly an honor and a privilege to be here today and witness what God has established and set in order this day.  Jim who would have ever thought or believed in the 50's over 50 years or so ago that God would have taken two boys that were the best of friends from Modoc, Indiana and called and ordained them to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I thank God Pastor Jim that you are my very best friend in the world and as a friend and brother in Christ Jesus, I love you and your family and Pastor Hardy and his family and the church family.  Amen.  God bless you.
